Euthanasia means "Mercy killing." It is the killing of a terminally ill, suffering, disabled etc. person to free them from their misery.
Euthanasia is legal in very few countries, although there is talk of its possible legalisation in the UK. Where do you stand on the topic of euthanasia? Is it acceptable? Should it be made legal? What would its effect on society be? These are all question that have no straightforward answer; What do you believe?

I think it's bad.

They want to die, who are we to tell them they can't, thereby increasing their pain and suffering?

I'm like pro-euthanasia because I have seen people in lots of pain, and it's not nice for them, or for the people who have to see it.

I think you'll find that Euthanasia causes hope because people know that they won't have to suffer any longer. Take an example. What would you do if you had the choice, and every day longer that you lived was more painful, you were hurting all over, and your whole family had to watch, including various, young (e.g 7, 9, 11)? I'd take the dignified way out and embrace death...

Simon's right. Euthanasia can kill hope, how can you set a bar for euthanasia? What does it pave the way for, other than legalised murder, doctors ending lives to save themselves trouble? You've got to consider the repercussions, not just the immediate result.

Sam, I would have thought you would have understood, being there when someone has died. I know that it is illegal to take part in Euthanasia, but my nan was euthanized because they at first took her off of liquids and were waiting, but she died two hours later. It was evidently a morphine OD, and I've never been so grateful for anything in my life, because the worse bit is the waiting. And all this rubbish about the "slippery slope to legalised murder" is just scaremongering. How on earth you can talk about legalised murder is ridiculuous. We do it to animals in pain because that's humane, but humans aren't allowed to be treated humane.

Yeah Ross your wrong! It is not scare mongering!! If it is legal to kill people it is easily open to abuse, But there is a difference between animals and people surely you would agree! people shouldn't be "put down" life is precious we should hold onto it, euthanasia devalues life as it can be taken so easily.
how it euthansia any different to murder? it is still taking a life when is that ever right or justified? i cant be bothered to argue no more my final sentence says it all...
